The following article by Capital One seems to describe what is happening to the resale/residual value of our Mercedes-Benz:

The trade-in value of our 2015 GL550 with less than 30,000 miles has already plummeted to a third of what we paid. Ironically, we are seriously considering a Tesla Model X as its replacement, which seems to be "rewarding bad behavior" but that's what the market is saying!

This article is so silly lol. MB and other high-end luxury cars drop in value in huge amounts all the time. This has been happening for years. Does anyone ever look at Tesla Depreciation? Ya, the tesla owners never want to talk about that lol. The fact of the matter is all luxury high-end cars go way down in value. A car that can "last forever" as my friend told me is leased and or traded in once the newest one comes out (Sounds like an Apple product to me) 
We looked into a Model X before the ML. The wife and I only liked the performance and tech. The rest of the car was not for us. I just cannot get past the ugly as sin looks, lack of build quality and issues with replacement parts. My neighbor had to wait months for Tesla replacement parts.

What a BS article. It's a fallacy of *** hoc ergo propter hoc. The depreciation happened long before Tesla was even a thought. It's the reason I buy used MB's and never new. It depreciates extremely quickly the first year. Always has and probably always will.

This article is more or less click bait. It arbitrarily assigns causation to a correlation. Possible contributing factors like the overall weakening auto demand or new generations of the GLE, GLS, and 3-series coming out aren't even acknowledged, let alone refuted. Tesla is a magnet for those kinds of articles, pro and con. I'm not saying it can't be true, at least to some extent, but this article certainly didn't prove it in any way.
My GL was not that highly optioned and only two years old, but it was still 2/3 MSRP when I bought it CPO. That was before the Model X was shipping in any reasonable amount, and the next gen GLS was nowhere close to coming out.

100% Just look at the forums... Anyone who has to basically waste time convincing others how great it is and criticize anyone who does not own one or want one has way too much time on their hands and has a cult-like mentality. There is not wrong with Tesla at all in their eyes.
