Would anyone recommend purchasing a 2015 GL 63 with less than 40k miles and a clean Carfax if you can get it for trade-in value? I'm an experienced Mercedes-Benz owner who is used to things getting out of control and budgeting $2k/annually for maintenance and repairs. Should I give it a go? I've never had an AMG.

Do you want it? Does it meet your needs? Seems like a fun vehicle. Since you are experienced with the brand, do your research on the model and this particular vehicle. Air suspension is something to watch out for. The underlying W/X166 chassis is solid. The 63 unique bits need to be assessed.
Ok. The warranty is $7500 from my CU, and they demand that I finance with them in order to get it.
Unfortunately, I am not remotely connected to a member of the Armed Services, unless they want to go back to the Civil War. USAA is out.
If you are planning to keep the car for a long time, I would get the warranty. There are known issues that are common on these cars. The air struts alone, if all 4 replaced, can be thousands. Anything else happens to the car along the line, it would be nice to have the peace of mind of an extended warranty. Make sure when shopping around for a warranty to double check what the warranty covers. There are different tiers of coverage. Don't let the Credit Union take leverage on you like that. You can get a warranty from someone else. I've seen quite a few people go with Fidelity Car Warranty Service Contracts on here. Search the forums and you will find peoples' experiences with them. There's nothing like feeling almost 600hp propel a 5700lb SUV forward in the way that the GL63-GLS63 does! I'm going to be ECU tuning mine in the coming weeks for more than 700hp! Can't wait!

I don't want it as much as a couple of other AMGs, but it best meets my practical needs. I have a very very large dog (150lbs) that my Audi Q8 is simply too small for. E63 wagon (my dream) and probably the ML/GLE 63 are out of the question. I have a 2010 GL450 with over 100k miles on it. It is the perfect size. However, it's starting to show its age, and ever since I got the Q8, I've come to realize that it is no fun driving—at all. It's quick, but that's about it.
I've thought about a CPO GLS550, but looking for one with Active Curve and a dark interior takes some thoughtful searching. Correct me if I am super wrong, but my understanding is that the GL63s have Active Curve standard?

It cost me a little over $5k to do all four and the motor on my X164 without ADS. When my R350 BlueTEC with ADS started having problems, I got rid of it. Granted, there were other issues, but still...
The selling dealership does not have a VSC in their network. My understanding is that Fidelity only sells through dealerships.
Yes active curve is standard on 63s but rare on 450/550s. Took us 3-4 months to locate a 550 in the color combo we wanted, white with either black or auburn brown. Found the white/Auburn combo and love it. Tuned and modded to perform like a 63 for 20k less. Would still love a 63 and tune it but I love the cash savings more.
can use datamb.com to run the VIN to get a data card of all options. Active Curve is code 468.

I have been cross-shopping a GLS550 CPO and the GL63. The GLS550's upfront costs seem like they could offset the maintenance and out-of-warranty repairs on the GL63. The GLS550 overall price came out to around $72k and the GL63 without warranty $58k....
several people have purchased from J Jackson of Tafelmotors Louisville KY the mercedes benz warranty for a good price. Several have bough from Carmax and their extended warranty was great.

That's not very helpful for a 2015 GL63. That being said, he quoted me dealer net on a 2yr/unlimited for the GLS550 CPO.

I too have enjoyed my gl63. I love the power especially for a 7 seater. I guess if you don't care about the power that the AMG has to offer, (like my wife) you can just get the gl450 as it has plenty. I always keep my gl63 in the sport mode. (my 8 y/o kid thinks it stands for Super Duper fast button). I for one think that they could have kept the eco mode off on an AMG suv as it is an oxymoron.
