I need help in figuring out why "Check Brake Pad Wear" indicator stays on in the 2015 GL450 instrument panel.
Replaced rear Pads, sensor and rotors. The shop tech cleared the code and the indicator came back ON after a day or so.
Then, replaced front Pads and sensor, even when the old front pads were only 15% worn. The same warning came back ON after a day or so.
I even disconnected the Auxiliary Battery in the trunk. It had no effect.
Mines been on for months, and I had full pads rotors sensors done at the dealer 2,000 miles ago and it came on a few weeks after new brakes. I had it turned off again but it came back on again. Donnie I just clear it all the time. My car is Still under warranty so I'll let you know what they do next time I have a chance to take it in.

I got this light on IC, changed all 4 brake pads, but light still on, find out if this light on in IC it has to be replaced, there are for one use if this sign on there are done. For X166 need 2 pcs front and rear passanger side. 1 for each side. https://www.autohausaz.com/ ordered from here very cheap and quick delivery. Before ordering give them call and double check part number. You can install it by yourself. Jack the car take the wheel and u should see the cable. Just unplug and plug.

If you changed the sensonrs as well maybe you install wring sensonrs despite of the fact they fit. The is small thin metal in this senaors as soon as the are getting contact this sign comes on. I think Your sensors done because of wrong installation. Try cheap way order new sensors from website https://www.autohausaz.com/ ( give them call double check before ordering. Sometime it is tricky in website it show this part fit your car but not. Thats is why highly recommended give them call and tell car model and want you need) replace and see if again this lights comes on. If so dig deeper.

Did you use MB sensor? Possibly bad sensor or the wiring harness not plugged in all the way. When I did my front brakes and started the vehicle check brake pad warning was still on. I checked the wiring harness bit more closely and it seems to be directional. I unplugged it flipped it and plugged it back in and problem solved

So here is what happened: A local shop did the work but did not do a good job.
The tech replaced the pads but did not replace the sensor, even though the Akebono pads came with a new sensor.
A close examination of the old sensor shows one of its conductor's insulation has stripped (this may not be the reason). Also i noticed it may not have been sitting in properly.
Well, now I learned something and next time I will just do it myself. I don't think shop tech will clean & lubricate everything as an owner would.
Thanks for the update and glad it is fixed. Just curious, would you be willing to share what the Indy shop charged you fo the break job? The reason I ask is my dealer charges $450 for labor per axle
When I called around the independent shops were maybe $100 cheaper on the whole job including parts and labor and you don't get a loaner

If it helps, here's what I paid for last week at the MB dealership for rear brakes and rotors. I actually had this done less than 2 years ago on the rear using aftermarket parts. I was surprised it was already worn out. So this time I had it done at the dealership instead:
Here is the cost of material and labor for replacing rear brakes on a GL450 (X166).
(2) Rotors Brembo brand (from RockAuto) about $115
Pads by Akebono ceramics (from RockAuto) about $71
Labor at local shop was $75
The total was about $270 with some misc items.
Many shops may charge more just because it MB SUV.
My suggestion would be to make sure the technician is experienced. You have to be Very gentle with screws and plastics in MB.
I changed the Camshaft adjuster magnetic on driver side and then got code P0018 & P0022. Everything was fine before this. I swapped back the old magnet, and the message code is still there.
PM does not allow attachments, took the liberty of posting here to reply. I assume you’re referring to 06 e350 and codes were cleared but returned. If engine # is before 2729xx30 468993, could be balance shaft.

i am glad that i solved the issue. I am buying all parts from Autohauz they have variaty of parts. I bought original MB brake pads and independent garage charge me for 4 brakes 150.
i picked up a set of rear akebono pads and came with sensor, new brackets, and grease. Not to bad at all of a job, once i figured the pistons need to be pushed in vs rotated/pushed in. Front pads are still more than half meat left, so will wait on doing them.
