Two cars with exclamation point in the middle
I been through my Owners Manual and the Command Manual but I can't find reference to the two cars with the exclamation point between them. I'm 99% sure it's in there but I keep missing it.
When I turn on the car the two cars with the exclamation between them appears in the Multi function display (between the speedometer and the tachometer). The only time it doesn't display is when I'm driving under 20MPH and the P for the parking feature displays.
I'm not sure if the display trying to tell me:
1) The Distance function has malfunctioned
2) The distance function is active
3) has something to do with Distronic Plus

Collision Protection Assistance function is active. If you go into the setting you can turn it off if you would like

Distronic function can only be activated when you are driving it, by the knob on the cruise control lever. The symbol you are seeing is the collision protection function active display.

The symbol you see is an indicator of the active DISTRONIC function. The system uses a sensor to calculate the vehicles' correct distance and relative speed. Using this data, the Active Distance Control system automatically maintains a safe space for the car ahead. It makes driving more accessible for the driver on the freeway or in traffic. I'm sure it does because I read about it on the automotive news site https://zumroad.com/automotive. Also, if this feature makes you uncomfortable, you can turn it off in the settings.
