Motor/Transmission Mounts + Spark Plug Change Costs
'13 GL450 with 110k, motor mounts have never been replaced. There is a vibration at idle as well as a clunk feeling when I let off/press the gas sometimes. I'm certain it's mounts given the age and symptoms. Spark plugs are due since last replaced at 55k.
Indy quoted $495 for spark plugs, $1098 for motor mounts, and $245 for transmission mount (none include tax). Dealer quoted $2050 for motor mounts and transmission mount, $660 for spark plugs (all include tax). Basically dealer is $700 more expensive so this is a no brainer with the indy.
Do these prices sound reasonable? I did spark plugs on the x164 M273 but I've heard the M278 is whole different beast and I don't have time to tinker/sour my mood for a weekend when I break some plastic fiddly pieces and/or screw up threads.

Not sure about the mounts, but the spark plugs sound about right. They are a pain on the m278 - the 2 near the firewall, especially the driver side one has very little room. You'll need a swiveling socket, if you use a normal socket with an added swivel there's almost no room. Getting the coil wires off the spark plug is also a pain - can't pull by the wire as you may separate the contact, so need to hook them with something right off the spark plug, which is recessed pretty deep. Dealer has a tool for that.

Thanks for the info. Reminds me of my old Tahoe where 1 of the spark plugs was 80% of the effort due to it's location. Think I'll be going with the indy on that one! Maybe others have more insights on the mounts.
