Not sure I understand the what or why of your question. I have always just added DEF and have always done so before I have ever gotten an alert to do so. Is the alert not based on a DEF level sensor and not a scheduled event that needs to be reset?

I think if the computer thinks there's a problem with adblue system, it only gives you 10 tries to start up the car. After 10 times, the car won't start again, and usually, the dealer has to reset it for you. I want to avoid going to the dealer and spend time and money.
