Oxygen Sensor Replacement

2013 GL550

I was wondering if anyone has the WIS for replacing the Oxygen Sensors on the M278 Engine. Theres a check engine code of P013E00 and dealer says that its the oxygen sensors that are faulty.

Thanks

@WinterPark321 Is the procedure not self evident? Serious question. Have you studied the underhood situation? This recently came up on an X164 or X166 post. Try the search button.

On many (most? all?) vehicles the upstream sensor is readily visible and removable from above in the engine bay with little to no drama. The downstream sensors are generally access from below, and are more difficult but doable nevertheless.

Okay thank you. I actually did take advantage of the search function and found posts referring to removing exhausts, heat shields, etc. That is why I asked.

That code is for bank 1 sensor 2, meaning the driver side downstream sensor. I would first get under the car, follow the wire from that sensor and wiggle the connector. Sometimes that alone will fix it. See if the check engine light goes off after a while, or reset it if you have the OBD tool.

I had that happen on my 2013 GL450 a year ago and wiggling the connector fixed it - the light/code never came back.

If that doesn't work, the replacement is certainly doable, but get the proper oxygen sensor wrench, it will make the job a lot easier.
