‘15 GL350 vs ‘07 Sequioa
So here’s my situation. I’m a builder/ contractor but mostly do a lot of Low Voltage work. Low voltage meaning home theaters, network, home automation, security, access control. So I don’t usually need to haul a lot of lumber/ sheets of plywood, etc. I used to have a F150 but all 4 cats were stolen while at the mechanic’s shop. Strong suspicion the mechanic did it but that’s for another thread. I bought a used ‘07 Sequioa (130k miles) to replace it because I wanted to keep my tools in the car. I know that the Sequioa has the famous Million Mile engine in it but it’s kind of weak and the fuel economy sucks (14-15 mpg). With the current used car price situation, I have a couple options.
Option 1-Selling the Sequioa for a small profit (bought for $8k, sell for between $11k-$12k) and taking my wife’s ‘15 GL350 (mid 20 mpg/ 120k miles) and using that as my work truck. It has less room inside than the Sequioa and it’s a little fancy for job sites. But it gets great mileage, has plenty of power for towing trailers/ bobcats/ concrete mixers, etc. I’d like to put a rack on it and OR tires on it for camping and “over landing”. The roof rack could double for hauling lumber/ etc.
Option 2- Selling the GL for a huge loss (bought for $70K, sell for ~$20) and putting a rack on the Sequioa.
I know I’m comparing Apples to Street vendor oranges (which btw are so cheap but the sweetest and juiciest oranges you’ll ever try). But I embarrassingly like the luxury of the MB. Thanks for your future input and opinions.
Btw, I’ve had great luck so far with the GL. Had to replace the MAF ($800 part), bought the Def delete from Vlad, currently have a small engine oil leak and a small fuel line leak. Thankfully, haven’t had as many problems as I’ve read on this forum.
