Turbo Cartridge Replacement
ID parts sells them, as do a a few other sites, and seems like good quality parts, at a fraction the cost of a replacement turbo. Before I jump on it, I'd like to get some personal reviews if anyone has done this.
Thanks everyone.

SInce you have om642 you have VGT turbo with variable geometry. There is a turbo actuator and rotating vanes. I would scan for errors before to make sure you don't have turbo related errors and avoid doing double work.

In addition you might change oil cooler seal as well since you are half way through disassembly.

I do realize it's the same amount of work to replace the cartridge, as it is to replace the turbo, but the cost savings are huge going the cartridge route. Just looking at if it's been done, and if it has been successful for anyone here.
Now dealing with oil filter housing leak, and also oil in intercooler lines. All this cold weather we have had, is really putting strain on the leak side of things.
We had the coldest place on earth these last few days.

"Excess of oil" could be just to that.
Be specific then you ask questions. Does anyone changed turbo cartridge? Sure, hundreds. Or perhaps rebuild those - there are 40 dollars rebuild kit for it if you know what you doing
If you asking for that particular part - I quite sure it is Chinese made. Is it going to perform - yes it is.
