I think I asked the wrong question. I have a 2015 gl350 with the tow package. I am interested in the trailer function on the control switch. As I read this thread I get the impression that all the mechanical things are there except the two speed t/c, I just don't have the inside switch controls or is there more to it such as no plugs on the wiring harness for the controls, no fuses in the fuse box, computer would need programmed etc.
Thanks,
Bob

Bob, please provide your VIN, it will let others see what option content is on your vehicle, relative to towing. Which control switch are you referring to? Please post a photo of the switch.

If you have a factory trailer hitch installed, you have the necessary electronic modules for the towing package. Do you have a factory OEM hitch, or do you have an aftermarket hitch?

Hi,
My VIN is 4JGDF2EE6FA515969. I have the factory tow package with factory hitch. The very first photo of this thread shows the two control knobs to the left of the comand knob that I do not have in my console. I have the dsr push button and another push button to raise and lower the vehicle. I was asking if it is feasible to put those two control knob assemblies in and would they function or is there more to the system than that?
Thanks,
Bob

There is more to the system than that.

Because your vehicle does not have the off road engineering package, you would need to install hardware (2 speed t/case, locking center diff), control modules, the knobs as you noticed, and software coding.

While nothing is impossible, it is an impractical and expense endeavor. What is your view on this?

Understood, That is what I suspected. The questions need to be asked to learn anything. I'm happy with my vehicle, the on/off road package was not on my radar and honestly not necessary because it will tow my travel trailer and that is what I bought it for.
Thanks for all the information.
Bob
