Headlight upgrade

Hi,

Got a x166 2013, and I think the headlights leave a lot to be desired. Both driving and HiBeam. Not sure if I have halogen or some other tech, but would still like to know what I can do to improve that's low risk.

I would think a ledbar would be the easiest?

What do you all recommend? Bulb replacement? Ledbar, if so how and what? Canbus adapter?

Thanks,

Jo

I recommend you learn what you have first. Then you can go about improving on it.

This.

FWIW, the X166 was built with both conventional halogen and bi-xenon headlights. Different markets had different availability and different standard equipment and typically bi-xenon was the 'upgrade' version.

There are aftermarket kits for both LED and Bi-Zenon upgrades.

Mercedes Bi-Xenon:

Thankyou!

I guess it's Bi-Xenon then.

So upgrade kit? Ledbar? Anything else?

A fresh pair of plasma bulbs might be your answer. They do dim slightly over time but I've found them to be very effective on my ML. Don't bother with color temperatures over about 6500K; the blue may look brighter but it isn't.

Osram CBB D1S size are the best bulbs but still limited by the projector and it being basically 10y old so some reflectivity is likely lost due to bulb heat.

New bulbs make a world of difference. The HIDs do dim over time. It's a cheap and easy replacement.
