COMMAND Head Unit Replacement Options
The command unit went out on my 2015 GL550. My part number is A 166 900 52 15. I can't for the life of me find a match on ebay. what are my options for repair/replacement? At this point I don't mind considering after market, just don't know what to do.

Surfing the internet, I have come across full Comand replacements from China (example, so they are out there) but I have no idea how well they work. Just looking at the specs, one would want to make sure to order one with the optional fiber optic connections.

Valid point. Yes, this is for screen replacement only.
Check with a junkyard they can sell you one out of a wrecked vehicle.
Not sure if you will need a reflash due to VIN. So that's something you need to figure out.

Just went throug this myself... and yes a used one will need to be coded at the dealer, for which you will need the VIN of the car it came from.
Total cost would be approximately $1,300: Around $300 for the used heat unit, and I was quoted $1k for the coding and installation...
But instead, I found a place here in South Florida that repairs your unit for $880 with a 6 month warranty...one day turnaround.
I just picked mine up today, and it works perfectly...he had a stack of them in his shop and said its a very common failure.
Total cost would be approximately $1,300: Around $300 for the used heat unit, and I was quoted $1k for the coding and installation...
