Pushing the X166 GLS 63 AMG platform to it's limit

An armored M157 GLS63 AMG is a heavy vehicle, weighing in at around 7000-7700lbs depending on its level of armoring. This has a considerable impact on performance. I think it's safe to assume that if a vehicle needs armor, reliable added power will also be important in certain scenarios.

What modifications would have to be done to ensure reliability of the drivetrain and engine at that weight while producing 1000BHP on 91 octane.

Thanks,

Drivetrain modifcations are usually the cheapest and simplest to do:
- Additional cooling (eg trans cooler)
- New brakes (calipers, rotors, etc, to deal with the new weight)
- New suspension, to deal with the new weight
- Protection for battery and ECU

The harder part are all the modifications to actually armor it. Search about the changes to the armored 1998 - 2001 BMW 750, or even the armored G63 for an idea of just how tasking and expensive it is to armor a vehicle...

Transmission will need to be reinforced and 1000 hp on 91 octane may not be possible with this engine unless you greatly increased the displacement.

Yes, you would need larger brakes to stop the vehicle but 1000 hp in a nearly 8000 lb. vehicle is not safe.

Thanks for the replies,

Is the 4.0TT that will likely come with the 2020 GLS63 AMG more capable in terms of it's limit?
