Front brake pads choice

Good bite, quiet, durable. I have 23K miles on this set so far, and they still have 1-2 mm left before change required.

I've found the ceramics to have less initial bite but have very little brake dust and don't seem to wear the rotors as fast. Semi-metallics have great bite but throw off a ton of brake dust. Personally, I run ceramics since I can't stand the brake dust.

Agree. I also found that OEM front pads when combined with Brembo (instead of OEM) rotors, produce noticeably less brake dust. (Same observation for the rear with OEM pads with Brembo and/or Zimmermann rotors). Since initial bite is more important to me, I use OEM pads (or equivalent with GG compound). I would not use any front pad with inferior friction compound (those not marked GG).

I am mainly after stopping power, dust isn't a very big issue, advantage of black rims
Searched around found Porterfield R4-S seems pretty pouplar on other AMGs.

In my extensive research, I have not found a better stopping front pads specifically for X166/W166 63AMGs than OEM's front pads. Other brand pads people use on these heavy cars are really designed for cars line E/CLS 63AMGs. All above have identical dimensions hence "other" pads "fit", however MB is using specific p/ns on X166/W166 63AMGs which are different from all other 63AMGs even though the pads physically are identical.
