Oil loss in 2018 gls63

Currently at 96000ish miles. Having to add a quart every 4000 miles or so over the past 8000 miles. Otherwise car running fine. Been religious about all maintenance and car is not beat on. Warranty until 100,000 miles. Any thoughts on this?

Check compression, and borescope. Consider the possibility of cylinder scoring. Much written about on this site. M278 and M157 (your engine) affected.

Has anyone successfully had Mercedes diagnosis and repair this issue while the car is under warranty? I dropped it off today and they were like "well, it's the 63, those things burn oil, we'll have to check and see what is within spec." It's a quart of oil every 3000 miles. Seems too frequent to me.

Something is wrong. Have the bores scoped. There may be cylinder scuffing that is causing the oil loss.

Talking about it on the internet and actually getting it done at the dealership are 2 different things. When I dropped it off this morning, they started to minimize it like I said, saying that a certain amount is within spec, but I told them I know about the cylinder problem and requested that they at least scope it and compression test it. They gave me the old "dont believe everything you hear on the internet" line, so I told them that if they didn't, I would take it to my independent repair shop and have them do it and photograph it. They then told me not to do that bc it wouldnt be covered under warranty and they wouldn't accept that. I told them it would just be diagnostic, but even then they said they would not accept the photographs if there is scuffing. In general I've found the service departments at these benz dealerships to be lackluster, however I travel to this one in particular bc they have always been noticeably better than the rest. As of now, it appears they are keeping the car through the weekend so I'm going to reserve judgement at this point. But I would appreciate your thoughts on whether I should in fact take it to my indy if they refuse to look into it as has been suggested here (scope/compression check).

Take it to another dealer if you have one within a reasonable distance.

Yet another of countless examples of shameful MB customer care at the snake pit (dealer service department).
