Where to start? The Italians or the Germans?
Running board removal

My 77 year old father is looking at buying a GLS63, but cannot get in an out of the truck with those (useless) factory running boards in place. Has anybody on here removed them? There is a trim piece that would need to be replaced it looks like?

Find a GL without the running board and that's what it will look like. You are right, the running boards are useless unless you are 4'5".

Posting to sub to this thread, but also because that's probably going to be the first mod I'm aiming for as well. They just look cheap and dumb as hell compared to the rest of the car's styling, on top of being near useless.
