So recently I had water get in my passenger side headlight because the dust cap fell off and didn’t know. I replaced the xenon bulb, driver/ballast, and module that are mounted on the head light. I dried out the head light until I got no more condensation. Turned on the lights and was working properly. But at night I got a Apaptive Highbeam Assist Inoperative on that dash. I tested my high beam manually and it worked. So low beam and high beam work when I turn it one manually. Then I noticed that the passenger side headlight was only coming on when I first turn the car on and it’s night time already. If it’s day time and I’m driving until it gets dark then the auto lights come on, the passenger won’t come on. I would have to turn off the car and turn it back on and then the passenger side headlight comes on. The driver side headlight is working fine. I tried swapping the xenon bulbs with module and ballast from left to right, and passenger side is still doing the same. I took it to the dealer and they said the code I was getting was B284187, B168987, B284387, B28F87. They want me to replace the xenon bulb and ballast. I ask them if they can confirm that will fix the issue since I replaced them already and they said no. They said if it does not fix it then I need a new headlight. So I just want a second opinion. If someone had a similar issue before I go with replacing the whole head light.
I am currently experiencing, sporadically, the same error message on my 2016 E63S...however it occurs in conjunction with a "Collision Prevention Assist Inoperative" error message which seems to have a wide range of occurrences in various MB models, and a corresponding wide range of possible remedies...though no consensus fix.
