GLS Tailgate Lock Actuator?
Hi All,
Thank you for looking at this post.
I have a 17 GLS63, I have an issue with the tailgate. I remember there being an actuator motor noise when the tailgate lock hit the striker, am I correct?
The tailgate does close, but when it touches the striker, it stops and reverses. Do you think this is an lock actuator motor gone bad? Thank you in advance for any guidance.

Here’s some info for anyone with a similar issue:
I replaced the right side strut motor with oem Benz ($320) - no luck.
I was convinced it was the pinch sensors, in lifting the tailgate manually to its highest position to get a better look, I heard a slight metallic groan from the left tailgate strut.
I then put my ear against it and moved the tailgate and definitely heard the groan louder inside the strut.
Bought an aftermarket strut from Amazon - $38, just put it on, now the tailgate functions properly.
