Just Picked Up A 2019 GLS63 AMG!
Hello MBWorld,
Good to be back in the AMG game! Just picked up a 2019 Diamond White GLS63 AMG and am loving every minute of it! I had to baby it for the first 1k miles in Comfort Mode and keep it under 4500rpm. It was hell! But now that I'm done with the break in period I have been applying more throttle and revs in Sport and Sport +. I believe these cars have an adaptation phase in the first 1k miles to learn your driving but I'm not sure. Im at around 1400 miles now and the car just keeps getting faster and more responsive! It just shocks me that such a big car that seats 7 people can accelerate like it does. To me this car has no competitors because it can seat 7 reasonably and run 12s in the quarter mile.
The differences between the drive modes are very noticeable. If you are in stop and go traffic, the transmission gets fidgety in Sport +, so I mainly use Sport in slower traffic. Comfort Mode is very laid back and smooth which is good for long trips.
I ordered BMC Air Filters for the GLS63. Anyone have any good experiences with these air filters?
I'm sure with a Renntech Tune and Capristo Exhaust this car can come to life as a beast and maybe even runs 11s. Maybe. Cant wait! Anyone know of any other exhausts made for the GLS63? Also, is Renntech the best choice for a tune on this platform?
Look forward to making some power with this AMG! Glad to be on here again as MbWorld has served as a great source of information about our AMGs.

Congrats! Very nice!
I just picked up my 2019 recently too, and noticed two things:
1) When in reverse, the side mirror lights don't light up real bright to illuminate what's around you in the 360 camera view, but my C63S does?
2) When in Sport+, the backfires are very subtle. Definitely nothing like what they were in the 2016 GLE 63S we had, where it gets really aggressive, and gives you REALLY loud backfires in Sport+ mode.
Mind telling me about your experience with these 2 items?

Only in Sport+ does it backfire upon downshifting. In Sport it does not. I’ve noticed that the transmission buckles when driving slowly in Sport+. It feels like it want to be driven hard in that mode.

that's one big badass luxo tank. 12's you say?
how's the third row seat in terms of comfort and access?

Requires the 2nd row to fold down and forward to gain access to the third row.
Our third row normally remains down cuz trunk space is minimal with it up. If you're trying to put a human back there, they need to be small. Like a child. Not so comfortable for an adult. For that, you'll need a fullsized SUV. Like a domestic. This is the biggest 3-row luxury performance sedan you can get without going to domestic full-sized SUV size (or Toyota Sequoia size).

3rd row seat is available at the push of a button. It can fit 7 people as long as the small ones stay in the back. And when you don’t need the 3rd row you can automatically make them flat for more cargo room and seat 5 comfortably. To me this is the most practical AMG they make!

Love the car but hate those wheels. That's the first thing I would ditch. They just don't fit the heft of the GL. They remind me of the hideous turbine fan wheels on the 230 SL.

They're pretty nice in person. Pics don't do justice. They are 22s with Pirelli P Zeros. Maybe some HREs in the future would be nice after I wear these tires out.

There is no doubt they have great craftsmanship but they do not fit the character of the GL. Maybe it's just me but I can't stand wheels that look like motorcycle spokes. Anything more than 12 spokes, to me, looks horrible while 5 is great. Even a split 6 spoke can look nice but 20 is way too many.

There's no need to wait until your current tires wear out, we can build the HRE's to the same widths as your OEM wheels so that you can utilize them. And since we can adjust the offsets of the wheels they will be sitting flusher with the fenders to improve the stance too.
Capristo & Brabus are the only quality exhaust brands that I'm aware of that offer a system for the GLS63 at this time.
Renntech, Brabus, & our own in-house tuning are great places to start to squeeze out even more power from the engine.
If you package up the wheels, exhaust, & tune with us I'll be able to save you a ton.

G-Code or S107 if I was going with a 2 piece design. Yeah, the S101's would look much better than the stock wheels but, then again, most wheels would look better than the stock ones.

My setup is 23” Brabus wheels, Rado catted downpipe (no CEL, no tune needed), supersprint midpipe, Brabus valved rear section.
i had the hre tr109.
obdII tuning is now available so you don’t have to send in your ECU.
i prefer Oem air filters.
looking forward to your mods
