Non Winter Tire Suggestions
I have a 2015 GL 63. I am running Pirelli Scorpion Winter tires for my mountain driving to the ski resorts. Love them for snow and rain. I am interested in getting tires to swap out my winter tires with. I will still be doing a lot of mountain driving in local California mountains. I am thinking of avoiding summer tires and want something I can still manage to take off road (fire trails, camping, etc). Continental and others make all season tires that seem to be a good in between from winter and summer tires. Any suggestions. Thanks

I have used the Continental Extreme Contact DWS several times and have to say, they are the best all around tire for the GL63. The offer very good summer and rain performance and are reasonably good in the snow as well. Having said, that, now that I have a new set of Finpseed wheels, I put Pirelli P Zeros on it for the summer and will use a dedicated winter tire with the stock set when needed near the end of this year.

Bumping this thread since it's time for new rubber. Going to stick with 21s and go for all seasons. On tire rack the options are Michelin PS A/S 3 vs Cont DWS 06. It seems the michelins are a bit noisier but better performers with a firmer ride compared to the Continentals. Since my commute is a 1 hour reverse out of NYC on the NJ turnpike, I am leaning towards the Continentals. Any thoughts?
While I'm at it, I'm selling the factory 22s that came with my GLS 63 if anyone is interested. They are flawless but need rubber.

Michelin if you want the best tire. DWS if you want the longest lasting tire.
DWS 06 is on my Panamera and has never failed me in dry/wet/snow as it is advertised. Hard and loud, but I don't care, it's also a 30 series on the Panamera. DWS 06 was also cheaper.
Michelin to me is the best tire manufacturer out there.

This is the commentary on TireRack:
I want comfort above all but there needs to be a performance aspect as it is the 63 and I do open it up on my commute. Am I wrong to think the DWS will better suit my needs? I am usually all about the most expensive option, but the above commentary that the Michelin has a"slightly rough ride and audible interaction.." sways me to the DWS.
Has anyone here actually used the michelins on the GLS?
Summary
The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ puts the "Ultra High" in Ultra High Performance All-Season, never leaving any doubt as to its mission as a performance tire. Best-in-class dry performance and sharp, responsive handling on the road combined with excellent wet traction strongly outweigh a minor lack of refinement in the form of a slightly rough ride and the audible interaction between the tread pattern and road surface. Goodyear's Eagle Exhilarate sets the new standard for wet traction, with a clear advantage in our wet testing, even over the three very capable performers in this test. On-road performance is highlighted by an athletic yet refined ride and unobtrusive tread noise, and it is very capable, but not completely satisfying for all drivers on the dry track. Having participated in many previous tire tests, the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 feels like an old friend at this point. It always performs at a high level across the board, whether on the road, the track or in the snow. In this group, the Continental doesn't feel as performance-focused as the others, but it is easy to drive, even when pushed on the track. The Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS is a solid, all-around option. Quick steering response should lend a sporty feel to nearly any vehicle on the road, and it has the traction to back up that promise in the dry or the wet. Some noticeable growl over all pavement types and a firm ride are small negatives, along with on-track performance that doesn't feel quite as cohesive or balanced as the best here.I want comfort above all but there needs to be a performance aspect as it is the 63 and I do open it up on my commute. I can only comment on a Porsche again here - the Michelin is the far superior tire if cost is no option. The DWS is hard and not quiet, the Michelin will ride better and more quiet and have better traction. I have zero hesitation with the Pilot Sport A/S 3+. You can also see the difference in the thread pattern and take a guess which "looks" louder.
Again, no issues with the DWS and will buy them again, but it's my wife's daily and she will never push the car.

I haven't tried it, but given I've tried a lot of tires on my GL63, I am confident it will work but take no liability if it doesn't.
295/40/21 is stock and 30.3" diameter.
285/45/21 is over sized and 31.13" diameter.
My winter setup with no rub is 285/45/22 - which is 32.1" diameter!
I would go with this tire, which has the highest UTQG: 600 A A rating AND is the OE tire for Bentley Bentayga (both in size and tire):

I run Pirelli's myself on my 23" wheels (305/35/23).

I went with the Michelins, they replaced pirelli ice and snows on my 21s. I have to say it is night and day, ride quality is buttery smooth in a way that I had not yet experienced in 35,000 miles of driving. Very pleased. Thanks for the advice.

I'm a huge fan of the Nokian WRG3 for an all season which actually is a mud and snow rated tire. But when it gets really bad snow and ice I run the Nokian Hakkapellita 9 studded tires.
Both come in a 21"
Never had a good experience with the continental stock tires and never tried the Michelin
