Why do so many people who buy a nice car call it a toy? When I for one buy a car, it's after considerable research and analysis, and it's definitely not a toy to me.

It's actually very common among auto enthusiasts to call their cars, especially the ones with high horsepower numbers toys. It was none other than MB itself who ran a commercial several years ago that said, "adults are kids with much better toys". That ad fits me to a t.

this… why would any one actually want to talk down their expensive purchase? “Toy” is considered something you’d enjoy so what’s wrong with calling it that?
