GLA250 4Matic
![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
In WA state even AWD vehicles are required to 'carry' chains (or alternative traction devices for vehicles whose mfr does not recommend the use of chains). Although my MB manual says to use chains on the front wheels only, a local MB tech recommended that I do not use chains, so I bought some AutoSocks to carry in the vehicle and avoid the $500 fine if caught with nothing onboard.
Here's my question, when extreme winter conditions require even AWD vehicles to chain up, should I put the socks only on the front wheels or on all 4 wheels? I'm getting conflicting advice from people I ask. Some think all 4 wheels is best for the vehicle; others think only on the front axle is what's best for the 4Matic AWD. Who knows which answer is true???
Thanks in advance to anyone who knows and takes the time to provide an answer.
