Steering Wheel Replacement Question

Hi,

I recently purchased a new flat bottom steering wheel to replace the round one on my 2018 GLA250.

Do I need to unplug both the main battery as well as the auxiliary?

I would say Yes to disconnecting both. Although the smaller battery primarily powers the Eco start/stop system they're electrically on the same mutually-supporting bus.

Both for sure. You really want to tackle this yourself? I'd check with the Dealer to make sure even with both batteries disconnected that the airbag will not deploy using a separate storage device incorporated into the airbag system. I have no idea -- but in an accident when the electrical system is grounded, will the airbag still deploy?
