GLA 250 stutter and splutter sometimes after fuel fill-up

I have an X156 GLA 250 4-Matic, its a 2015. Never had an issue with it, but now (and only when my wife fills it up with Petrol/gasoline) it sometimes goes into a strange mode where it coughs and splutters and over-revs, then picks up and limps along in what seems to be "limp-home mode". No engine lights are iluminated and there is no ther indication of an issue.

If the car is switched-off and the ingntion key removed and then re-started, it burst back into life and is fine. Sometimes it takes 2 reboots and restarts; other times it takes only one. But the car must be completely switched off to fix teh issue.

The only consistent things is its driven by my wife when this happens. It happens sometimes, but only on a specific route and she tends to fill up at one specific garage/gas station only when this happens. Its never happened on any other route, its never happened for me, but once its restarted it seems to be fine.

Could this be dirty fuel? E10 petrol here in the UK. I presumed GLA250's woudl be fine running on the newish E10 fuel. Could it be that?

Lastly, as a precaution I want to change or clean the fuel filter. I can't find any reference to the fuel filter and I have looked all over the car to find it, could someone please give me a pointer to its location and if its serviceable. Please don't tell me its in the fuel tank!!!

Cheers

Dave

So sorry for your difficulty. It sure sounds like your wife is getting bad fuel. It's certainly possible that the tank at the gas station might be contaminated in some way. I would suggest your wife get gas at a different gas station just to try to rule out bad gas from the station. I still continue to suspect this is the issue because when the car is filled from another station, it runs just fine. Also, MBs typically run on premium fuel so you want to be sure that both you and your wife are using whatever premium gas in the U.K. is. Check your owners manual and use only the gas that's recommended in your owner's manual.

Let us know how it turns out. Another tip to remember is to never buy gas when you see a tanker truck at the station filling up the gas station's tank with new gas. They always stir up all of the sediment at the bottom of the gas station's tank and that can get into the fuel you buy when you fill up and can also cause the type of issue you're currently having.
