HELP: 2018 GLA Randomly Stops
My sister has a 2018 GLA 250 driving around Kansas City.
She's had this car for about 3 years now. Recently it has begun an annoying and dangerous problem. Her car will just randomly bog down and stop. In order to restart it, she has to epop off teh push button ignition and use her "hard" key to restart the car. It has not failed to restart yet, but still...this is very dangerous.
She's had the car at MB dealer twice for diagnosis and they say "all is well". Can't replicate problem.
She had the battery replaced in December but otherwise has had no other difficulties.
I searched this forum for similar issues and did not find anything.
Can anyone here offer any suggestions or point me in another direction?

I would suggest your sister take her GLA to a different MB dealer. The GLA might also still be in warranty so what ever the problem is, it might be covered under warranty. Another thought is for her to drive the GLA and then call MB Roadside Assistance when the GLA shuts down like you're describing.

What prompted the battery replacement in December? When the car bogs and stops, do warning lights appear on the dash or are electrical systems dead also?

Sailorlite...the battery went dead in much the same fashion my battery eventually died out in my GLC. I got a warning light telling me something had stopped working and then I could not switch off the Auto Stop Start feature.
No other warning lights were present.

Good advice 190! The problem for her in Kansas City is that there are only 2 MB dealers to deal with and neither are what I would call exemplary on the service end - especially not when compared to what I've become accustomed to here in OC.
It was a certified used car so I am confident she is still under the extended warranty of not the original factory warranty.
