GLA250 Rear View Camera Works When It Feels Like It
When it's trying to work but something keeps it from doing so, it makes a noise like there is something wrong mechanically for the camera to lower.
I lowered it using the settings feature and it lowers just fine that way. While I had it down I sprayed some water on it and cleaned it up for the first time. I have not changed anything since purchasing it new back in 2016; the license plate frame is still the one that the dealer had put on.
The camera itself appears to work fine. I wonder if there is a problem when the camera and the camera control module are trying to communicate.
Any ideas?
Plain water is the recommended way to clean the camera. My first impression was also what you suggest - that the mechanism that lowers the camera is acting up perhaps because o corrosion or dirt - hence the reason I cleaned it. I can't see any corrosion there when I lower the camera using the "settings" option on the navigation screen which operates the camera flawlessly! I believe it may be something to do with the communication between the camera and the camera control module. But I cannot find any information on how to diagnose that. I do have some electric/electronic cleaning spray that I could try spraying the camera with, but when the camera is lowered I cannot see anything electronic to spray, just the camera housing!
