Angry Electronic Power Steering Actuator Motor Malfunction

Hi, I've got a 2019 GLA180, 31k miles. Recently drove home and 'Power Steering Malfunction See manual' popped up on the dash + stiff steering. Was at a car park so turned off for 15ish minutes turned back on no warning and was able to drive the car home but it was only a < 5 minute journey. Took the car to a local garage a few days after (10-15 min drive) and the car drove fine. They weren't able to see any faults within the steering components. Ran a diagnostic check which threw up the stored error "C159209 the actuator motor for the electric power steering has a malfunction. there is a component fault."
This garage can't fix it and did tell me to go to an MB specialist. On the drive back home dash showed warning again and this time turning it off for a few minutes then back on again didn't fix the issue for long. Had to call RAC and he drove the car home instead of towing it.
Just now wondering if this has happened to anyone before, considering the low mileage, lack of significant wear and tear, not a very old car & if anyone knows if that specific component can be replaced. I'm based in the UK. I will obviously contact the relevant garages but wanted an opinion here as well.
