Weak bass in the HK stereo

Weak bass in the HK stereo
3 weeks into my CPO GLA45, and while the performance exhaust is better than any sound system, the Harmon Kardon stereo has been disappointing in the lack of bass response.
I've physically checked to see that the trunk-mounted sub is working, and it's putting out *some* bass, but from the cockpit it's not noticeable at all, even with the bass levels cranked way up on the equalizer. To my ears it's very little bass at all - tunes that I know well sound more tinny and there's no "thump" whatsoever. My other cars that have stock systems without subs have much more bass than I'm hearing
Anyone else with similar experience?
