Trunk open/close button from driver side door

Hi GLB owners, I like to confirm that you can only close the trunk door with the truck button on the driver side door when the engine is on. I can open the trunk with the engine off but can only close it with the engine on. Is that everyone’s experience? TIA.

Hm, I haven't had that issue ever in my one year ownership of my GLB. I will test it tomorrow and update you.

It seems like what you said is true. I was unable to close my trunk via the door button when my engine was on. I can close it on my key fob though.

Thank you for checking it out. I think you meant to say that you were unable to close the trunk via the door button with the engine OFF, hence, you can only close it with the engine on.
I can hear a pretty loud "click" sound from the trunk door when I press the trunk open/close button when the engine is off, but it wouldn't close unless I turn on the engine. Really strange why MB would design the car this way...I think it's an overlook by the engineers or QC folks.
And yes, I can close the truck with the key fob as well.

I double checked this morning and got the same results as you guys. It will open the trunk with engine off, but would not close it. I can also hear clicking sound of the lock either releasing or closing. I can still close it with engine off when I walk to the trunk and push close button there, or swipe my foot under. My guess it is software programming issue.
