64-bit ambient lighting

During the day, the only color that you can see is blue. If you change it to any other color, you cannot see it. When we test drove a GLB the salesman changed the ambient color to red (and it was during the day) and we could still see it nice and bright. Does anyone else experience this? Where the only color you can see during the day is blue?

As far as why the blue is brightest, that has more to do with the wavelength of the light, think about the color of the sky, or a body of water, coupled with the fact blue is one of the easiest colors for our eyes to pick up.

As far as the ambient lighting in general, you can adjust the intensity in the ambient lighting menu. As you noted, blue, as well as violet, are the “brightest” colors, no surprise as violet is an even shorter wavelength than blue and thus scatters the most making it easiest for our eyes to see. I use red almost exclusively at night as it affects our night vision the least of any color.

I can see your point but what’s odd is why I was able to see the red nice and bright when I test drove that same model. It was also daylight.

not all LEDs are created equal, maybe that is why plus it might just be the angle, were you sitting in the passenger seat at some point? It can also be what time you test drove it compared to when you've been driving it, the sun moves after all during the day. It can also be that it might be a little cloudy that day during the test drive? Instead of sunny and clear?

This is a great explanation on the light diode and colour differences, thanks for commenting. If you look at an AMOLED screen I don't know about you but blue text also looks more "3D" compared to other colours
