I had a front wiper arm cover cap break the side tabs. It covers the pivot point where the blade and the arm connect.
On the bottom of the piece, it shows a Mercedes symbol and a 10 digit part #. A plastic piece a little over an inch long and about 1/2" wide.
I called my Mercedes dealer to get a price on a replacement.
$25.00 friggin' dollars for a 10 cent piece of plastic. I was expecting around $5 just because its MB. These are probably molded by the thousands.
I guess German plastic is at a premium. Ended up using the 10 digit part # to check on Ebay. Got 2 pieces for $13. Still pricey but looks exactly the same and fits like OEM.
Somebody's gotta pay for all MB's recalls including the diesel emissions disaster. And if you want to keep your older MB running instead of padding their pockets with a shiny new one they'll get you one way or another.
Being retired I don't have an unlimited income, so I have to watch the expenses. I'm willing to pay a fair price and realize profits are necessary, but this seemed beyond excessive.
I wonder what the total cost would be for the part and the 30 second install at the dealer?
I must be over-thinking the "Simple" removal of these OEM wiper blades. I just want to remove them, I have a pair of BOSH Aero twins as replacements. I've watch 8-9 videos this morning of how "simple it is", saw one where the person forcibly took a screwdriver and drove-in the tab in saying it shouldn't be this hard....... Most of the videos hide the actions they are taking to get the tab lowered & simple pull the top off, emphasis on "Simple"....... WHY-I-OUGHT-TA.
Through continued perseverance I was able to remove the blades, here's what I learned, at least what I did after many videos. My GLB250 is a '22, apparently the top piece that slides with the tab became lodged through age or dirt and wouldn't slide towards the top of the blade. (Why-I-Ought-ta)...... I pulled the bottom of the blade outward and placed a small Jewlers Screwdriver shaft (not the head) at a 90-degree angle up under the swivel connection point which gave me some leverage to pull upward. At the same time, I rocked the head piece back and forth side-to-side which slowly loosened it and finally off ! PITA !!
Found the Bosch 3397014242 Aerotwin Wiper Blade Set (22" & 24") is a much beefier construction/design than the OEMs at a substantial cost reduction ($49) available on Amazon, Good Luck
