Carseats for GLB

Hi -
I just picked up my new EQB and am having trouble installing carseats. Since the body is the same as the GLB I'm hoping that my issue is something others have dealt with (pardon the cross-post).
The issue i'm having is that the forward-facing carseats that have worked in my prior car are not working in the EQB. Our son is big enough that he needs a forward-facing carseat installed via the lap belt not the latches (the latches support up to 65 lbs including carseat and our seat suggests you do lap belt after 40 lbs) but is not ready for a booster yet. The issue I am having is that the latch for the seatbelt in the EQB 2nd row is so far forward that the car seat won't install tightly with the lap belt. On my prior car, they were right were the seat back hits the seat bottom, but on the EQB they are about 3 inches forward. It seems like when I tighten down the carseat it is not being pinned against the back of the seat and so the seat wiggles on that side.
Have any parents had similar issues? Are there any car seat models that you have had luck with?
Thanks!
Adam

I just installed carseats in mine. Biggest pain I the butt. I have never struggled so much with installation of carseats before. The problem is the narrowness of the seats.
I use the latch system. One thing I found helped was adjusting the angle of the backseat backrest.

I had booster seats on this car and used latches to secure the boosters. Loosen your carseat latch straps as far as possible, and then attach to the car latches. Once attached then you can tighten it as much as you can, and at that point you can control where the carseat is, to make sure that shoulder strap buckle is accessible. But typically you only use shoulder strap with a booster seat. I also used a seat protector between the seat and the carseat with no issues on this car. Hope this helps.

Thanks! The issue is our son is too big for the latch system to work with our current carseat (only up to 35lbs) but too small for a booster.

We had this issue with out kids when technically they were still supposed to be in a regular carseat but were to big for it. We switched to a full back booster seat with a harness system. I think we had Britax that was good between 25lbs to 100 lbs. And when the kids outgrew the harness, they used shoulder strap. The seat had built-in adjustable headrest that could be raised or lowered.

After spending a long time talking to carseat manufacturers, I'm going to answer my own question in case anyone has issues in the future.
Because the belt latch is forward, if you install a carseat with the seatbelt and the belt path is far back, you can get a lot of wiggle from tugging the carseat at the front corner on the belt latch side. This does NOT mean it is unsafe even though it would appear that way because no crash would ever push the seat that way. You should look at how to properly test for fit with your carseat, which typically involves trying to move it laterally near the belt path. For me this was fine with a Britax Grow With You Clicktight.
