I had a 2023 GLB loaner with 19” wheels for few days, while my car was in service at the dealer, and noticed that ride quality was much softer than on my 2021 with 18” wheels.
It was very surprising since I would think that 19” tires would have a shorter tire profile, thus a harder ride. The 19” tires were way under inflated at 35 psi front and 31 psi rear vs 43 psi setting listed on the gas fill door.
Not sure if the soft ride was due to under-inflated tires or if 2023 model has a softer suspension.
The softer ride was from the lower tire pressure. When you say underinflated based on the gas fill door, which tire pressure on that sticker are you referring to? There are two primary tire pressures. Normal load and Max load. The former is what you wanna use unless you load the car to its full gross weight. The latter is the pressure you also find on the drivers door sticker and that pressure is meant for when the car is loaded to its full gross weight and you also plan on driving the top speed. Which pressure to use depends on the load, type of tire and intended top speed. Make sure you don't have your tires overinflated for the load and speed you are driving normally.
GLB35 uses the same 19" GLB250 Continental SSR SL tires as standard tires and pressure requirement is 35/33 as below. GLB35 uses 255 XL tires for 20"/21" tires, so I am running larger 19" 255 XL tires at 35/33 with no problems. For winters I keep it higher pressure due to potholes... Only difference is GLB35 has harsher AMG suspension and also is lower 2" compared to GLB250. I had the 21" tires originally and MB service lowered to 35/33 level due to harsh ride, but I changed back to min when I had a wheel scratch in the first day... I don't know why they keep the GLB250 tire pressures higher.
