Advice on soundproofing
Hey guys, I recently bought a 2020 GLB 200. While I understand that this is a budget Mercedes car, the car is quite noisy, especially with road noise. Is it worth it to pursue adding sound-deadening materials to the car?
FYI I live in New Zealand so the $ below would be a New Zealand dollar.
I asked a local shop and they told me that installing the part would cost me around $800 (USD 480.56). That would only cover both doors, and they say it could be more than $2000 (USD 1,201.41) to soundproof the whole car - floor & the boot as well). I don't have any experience installing mod to car previously. While I can save up the money to go ahead, do you the benefit is worth the cost? I plan to keep this car for another 4-5 years before changing to a higher model.
Let me know if anyone has ever experienced any sound-deadening project on your GLB and how it went.

What tires are you running? Do online reviewers say anything about increased noise? If so, you could switch tires.

I didn’t do my wife’s GLB, but made great gains on my C-Class by switching tires and using a sound meter to see where the noise was coming from. Lowered cabin noise level on secondary roads by 8 db.

I have a GLB 200d 2020 model currently and I found it very quiet but I always look at tire noise rating and I buy as quiet as possible tires even if that means some compromise on performance or durability but the improvement in noise reduction is huge. Been there, done that :-) I mean I got in some of my cars some very noisy summer tires and just went back and replaced them. So switching tires can improve your car riding immensely. Don't know your location, but in EU tires have clear marking for noise from A to C if I recall and have a noise level in dB
My car came with summer tyres Pirelli Scorpion Verde rated at 71 dB. Details here: https://www.pirelli.com/tyres/en-ww/...scorpion-verde
