GLB35 Brake Squeal

From day, one and continuing through my 1000 mile break in period, I have experienced an annoying brake squeal when coming to an stop under light braking. On other vehicles I have used Disc Brake Quiet spray on the back of the brake pads and have scored the brake pads and rotors, but I am hoping the dealer can correct this problem. Has anyone else out there experience this? Thank you in advance.

Try bedding-in the brakes.

You're welcome, hopefully that solves or very least mitigate the issue.

My 2021 GLB35 has it also. Now it sounds less as the brakes got older. I found below MB Technical Service Bulletin for squeaky brakes on GLA35/GLB35:
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...33782-0001.pdf

I gave it to MB dealer during 3rd year service. They said I may need to change the brakes soon, but still they are fine at 25K miles...

Yep. I did the standard procedure of repeated slow down to 5 mph from 35 mph, 50 mph, and 75 mph and then cruised to let the brakes cool. Initial results and my expectations are that this will solve the squeal problem. Thanks again for the reminder. I've done this many times on race cars, but forgot about it until you reminded me.

Excellent! I will keep this in my back pocket if the bedding procedure doesn't provide a permanent solution. Thank you.

Break?

I know it's "brake" not "break." Like for others, I assume my spell checker must have changed what I typed. Who in these days talks about brakes when one is only worried about when their next break is?

Just wanted to say thanks for providing the TSB for the brake squeal. MB service center replaced the pads with a new set and followed the instructions as directed. They took the GLB out to bed in and seems to be fixed.

Good to hear that. In my case MB service told me that I need a new brakes instead of servicing it, so I didn't want to replace the brakes when the brakes were not fully worn out. I will ask again when I will have the new brake change...

If you are in the 24 month wear and tear period, then you are golden.

Glad to see this thread here; mine squeak as well even with bedding and breaking in and all the good stuff. It's taunting me, just won't go away. On the hunt for some ceramic pads for the GLB 35 anyways but that's also quite a journey -- not having much luck. (Ceramic may not fix my squeals but it should help with all the brake dust from stock pads.)

I guess keep on trying the TSB and doing bed-in.

I would pursue the warranty route for full replacements.

On the flip side, I did reach out to Akebono, their aftersales team replied with the vehicle in operation is too low to justify production costs for them. They are looking for a minimum of 50k total. So unfortunate! Their performance and proact pads are great for noise, dust and fade resistance.

For sure, take advantage of that wear and tear warranty period : )

I can confirm this, too: Even met a rep at a local car show and they said, Nope. Still on search for alternatives for GLB 35.

You may consider the Redstuff other forum members on other models are recommending, I heard those are good. Always read reviews though.

Follow-up to my addition to thread here in Feb 2025: I tried bedding, slamming on breaks, pad sprays, all of that. I finally took in to dealer and they were able to replicate the sound and issue under light braking as well (thank goodness). At this time car was still new and under warranty (only six months of ownership at the time). Dealer said it sounded like a diesel truck coming to a stop. Dealer repaired with new front pads (where the squealing was coming from), fixed it right up and no issues since (now two months later).

Of course, not sure if this is option for others, but all things tried didn't work except pad replacement.
