Brilliant Well in those sizes there is a bit more choice opposed to the 295/40R21's all round on my GL. But that is where the good news stops, ouch they'll be expensive. Ah well they look awesome.

You lucky man that you have it already

The GLC43 comes with air suspension, if the airmatic system on my GL is anything to go by there would be no worries running 21" wheels. I've done so for the last 3 years on horrible UK roads that are filled with potholes and they've been incredibly comfortable.

But yes if you have standard suspension I'd rather be on 19" or less as well

Haven't driven too far in the 2 weeks since arrival, but loving it so far. Very little difference in ride comfort in this vs my X3 on 19" rims. Needs a firmer push of the arms when on full lock though and getting used to the squared-off steering wheel.

Consider yourself lucky on that note. North America only gets to choose from 20s or 21s

I'm surprised to hear that. The air suspension must be working overtime!

FYI: The sidewall on those 21s is approx 100mm. What were the tire specs on your X3?

There should really be no worry with the air suspension system on it. I've been running on 21s on my GL for the past three years on some rather 3rd world roads in the UK and across Europe. Much more comfortable than the 18s on my Golf and on my Audi.

Yet when you put it in Sport the beast changes significantly and on the GL especially combined with Active Cornering control it is pretty amazing. But still plenty comfortable.

Air suspension systems seem to suffer from higher failure rates than regular steel suspensions. I don't think it's unreasonable to assume to every extra bit of sidewall reduces wear and tear on the suspension.

Are the bar sides recommended? It looks very nice, but is it practical?

2017

Since the 2017 pic thread isn't (yet?) made sticky, I'll post a few of my 2017 photos here. About 5,000 miles in, and just back from the detailer (Diamond Detail in Cockeysville MD, can't recommend highly enough!) where I had two coats of nano resin coating, plus interior conditioning, wheels, tires, etc. Looks better than new! Really happy with this purchase.

Shiny!

Swimmable Lunar Blue.

I looked at one with the running boards before I bought mine (without). IMO in a practical sense they're worse than useless - not only unnecessary since the entry height isn't that high, but they actually get in the way. My wife always wanted them on my old ML, but she agreed they're just an impediment on the GLC.

As for aesthetics, I think they're OK but not worth the practical failing. YMMV!

Nice photos guys! Keep them coming. I really think it looks great without the running boards. As you say it's not like you need to stand on them. To me it brings out the sleek lines more.

Ps. I never will understand all this 2017 talk in 2016. I guess it's an American thing to get a 2017 model in 2016? So as mine will be build on 10/13 does that mean I'll have a 2017 GLC43? When does the year switch as obviously it's not only. 1/1

You night package is different from the regular GLC sports + night package! Is it special order or unique to AMG?

MaxFactor, could you post a pic of the front of the car? Was there chrome on the handles?

Oh! So standard GLC AMG43 comes with gloss black window trim.

Also noticed that the front lip and rear bumper have brushed aluminum look instead of the super chrome ones on standard GLC sports package/amg line.

Yeah, my glc comes with these as standard, the decision to go night package is going to be harder to justify.

IMHO, The mixture of black and matt silver looks is pretty well balanced.

I agree - I wanted to go black all the way but as there is no all black wheel option I think it is good to keep some silver to tie it all together.

Just a note on the air compressor. Failed / had to be replaced on my wife's GLC after 6 months.
