Multimedia Package or not?
I want, but don't need, adaptive cruise control. That functionality requires the purchase of both MM and the Driver's assistance package.
I think MB is fair in how they do options on this car. The car in the 40K's seems like a particularly good value. But of course with a couple of bigger packages it is easy to bump up to $55K.
Even without all packages, purely GLC priced at around 40K is really competitive.
I order not only MM package but also HUD. I am hoping Navigation is good enough and I can enjoy the information and guidance from HUD!
Thanks!
Harp on about resale value all you want, but especially if you're just leasing for a few years, the extra inch and a half screen and the integrated navi are most likely not worth it. Unless you're a traveling salesperson or something. Then it might be convenient.
Once in-car navs like Mercedes' catch up to the accuracy and timeliness of phone navs, and voice commands catch up to Siri, it'll make more sense. That will most likely happen when they are more closely integrated with your phone.
So the best answer is: Get what YOU think YOU need for your situation.
If you're concerned about resale value when you're buying a brand new Mercedes, you might want to head over to the Lexus dealership, frankly.

My experience in a car with Nav is that "Nav" is now usually provided by a passenger looking at a smart phone giving directions.
Keeping a car for 4/5 years, MM Nav would be nice to have on long road trips. From me that comes out to hundreds of dollars per trip for the feature. That may be worth it, but it also seems extravagant.
I really just want Carplay.

On the MBUSA website, under the "Owners" tab, select "How-To Videos", 2016 GLC-Class: Go to "System Settings". The last video shows how to use Garmin Map Pilot. Were it not available on the GLC, would it be shown here?
(FYI, in Taiwan, handwritten touch pad on GLC is optional. Only knob comes as standard)
Maybe Mercedes just put all videos there, and that doesn't mean GLC in US market support Garmin.
Just my guess.....

To be able to use the Garmin Map Pilot you need:
Garmin Map Pilot preparation (code 355 ), which interfaces with Audio 20/Touchpad and, of course, you need the Garmin Map Pilot SD card.
Code 355 can be retrofitted. It is the GPS Antenna and wiring. The retrofit GPS antenna is placed under the intrument cluster and is connected to the head unit behind the panel.
Code 355 was (is ?) a standard prep on the US version C-Class, but apparently that configuration did not carry over to the US version of the GLC.
In Australia, they package the COMAND Online and Burmester sound system together however and I definitely wanted the better speakers - so had to get the COMAND as well.
Even after a few days, I find that I am using the COMAND heaps (which I didn't expect) and massively prefer it to Google Maps on my phone. It is a bit more annoying to input addresses, etc. as this takes significantly longer than on the phone, but I understand in the US you guys have an app that will let you send addresses to your car GPS? The positives far outweigh that though. Having the navigation on the big screen is great, and I am also finding that the map display itself is much clearer/more intuitive than Google Maps. There is never any lag, hangs, or delay - plus it works when there's no reception. With Google Maps, I also found that which turns to take, etc. could often be unclear on complex intersections - with the COMAND, it always seems to be crystal clear.
I bought one of the first GLC in SoCal back in November. Dealer told me I can add a SD card for the Map Pilot later. After taking delivery, I searched back and forth for that SD Card slot, which could not be found. I was hoping the forums have some kind of work around... But I guess not...
Does anyone know would a USB SD card reader work?
On a side note, I took delivery on a rainy night only to find the side view mirror has a small scratch...

I contacted my dealer to see if they could install the voice command module only, since I basically have buttons for voice control on my steering wheel that do absolutely nothing, he said the specialist would be back on Thursday, so I won't know until then. I won't get my hopes up...
"Thank you for reaching out to us. Unfortunately, this will not fit in your vehicle. It will only fit the W205 C Class. It appears that there is not currently a navigation update available for your vehicle either."
Hopefully, a GLC Garmin SD card will be available soon.
