Sticky residue

So I noticed today some sticky/oily residue on the runner boards on the right driver side.
It seems to be coming from the lower part of the door.
Is this normal? What could be the source of this?

Is the car parked under a tree on that side of the car?

No. Not at all. Seems like something leaking from inside door?
It's been particular hot this summer here and not sure if something is melting.

~ it would be the rustproofing/sealant from the factory - it tends to leak from the seams for a few months.

Had the same problem with my GLK. It's definitely sealant and it is easily removed with some car wax or polishing compound.

We're getting nothing like that on our GLC. If it were me, I'd drive over to the dealer and show the goo to them.
