As soon as the driver starts to brake, its Adaptive Brake Assist automatically provides the ideal level of braking, to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. The system can also provide autonomous braking from speeds up to 65 mph, and can activate the features of PRE-SAFE®."
This is standard on every Mercedes-Benz vehicle in the US.

I've had the system trigger the brakes. There is a road I travel frequently on which people make left turns, but there is room on the right to go past them. I approached a stopped car waiting to to turn left with the intention of driving around them at about 40 mph. The brakes locked hard. It was impressive.
