Beeping

Beeping
Some mornings as I leave for work my GLC300 beeps a couple times and I see a red flash on the left side of the dash. It isn't particularly cold, I haven't left my lane. I leave early and there are no other cars anywhere around me and I have no idea how to figure out what is going on. Any thoughts? Thx!

Here's what the marketing material reads on MBUSA's site:
"Radar-based technology alerts you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as the driver starts to brake, its Adaptive Brake Assist automatically provides the ideal level of braking, to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. The system can also provide autonomous braking from speeds up to 65 mph, and can activate the features of PRE-SAFE®."
This is standard on every Mercedes-Benz vehicle in the US.

I've had the same thing happen to me on two occasions - a beeping sound and a red triangle symbol appears on the left side of the dash. I looked in the manual, and it is the the Collision Prevention Assist warning. However, I have no idea why it went off. I wasn't even near any other vehicles or stationary objects, and I wasn't traveling particularly fast.

It's the CPA. Happened to me 4or 5 times -- even twice when cars were approaching quickly (but stopped just in front of me) from a right side parking lot exit intersecting my path of travel. I think it's a great safety feature, especially the "heads-up" warning I got in the event the cars exiting the parking lots failed to stop.

Thanks all. It seems to happen in generally the same area (same section of the same street). No other cars around and nothing my eye could see that would be 'collision-worthy' but since it is in the same stretch of road I will assume the car is seeing something I can't. I wish the warning would stay more than the split second it does so at least I would know what it was!

Near my house, there is a left turn that usually sets off the beeps. There is nothing noteworthy about it except that the lawn beyond the curb is a steep hill. The system cannot determine that I'm going to turn before running into that hill.
I've had the system trigger the brakes. There is a road I travel frequently on which people make left turns, but there is room on the right to go past them. I approached a stopped car waiting to to turn left with the intention of driving around them at about 40 mph. The brakes locked hard. It was impressive.
