Jaguar XFS & wife GLC250 AMG Line Premium Plus
Was also considering the same purchase but my wife doesn't want one.
On my car I have the Snooper dash cam that also picks up speed camera alerts.
Worth the money!

Dashcams are made to be universal fit to many cars...I'm not sure there is a good or bad fit for the GLC in particular. You'd be better served asking a larger audience what the better dash cam models in general are.

Hi, have been testing several in Lexus and Skoda ( sister to Audi A6).
My criteria, no GPS, to avoid issues if car slightly over posted speed limit, robust for heat build up in cabin over summer, some stop working until they cool down. No LED lights on unit, reflection on front screen and it tells everyone you have a camera. Look for G sensor, field of vision from 140 to 170 degrees, resolution at 1920x1296p minimum, 2034x1296 p good, with still resolution highest you can get, better than 5mp. Lens of quality say F1.8 or F2 as minimum for max light transmission, helps with night view.
Ambaralla A7LA30 is a good all round processor. Prefer small platform, not big or bulky.
Mini0806 is proving very good at the moment for me. CDV300 looks interesting.
Will install two cameras, one on front screen and one on rear window, using 12 v outlets. Most likely two independent cameras as the ones sold as linked pairs have different resolutions and require hard wiring either through the headlining or under floor along side. If seperate, then if one faults the other still works. Will be installing in GLC and Mazda3. Will be low profile units like Mini9806, or later model. Some good ones from Korea currently, but a bit $$.

I have an 0806. Works well when is does work.
0806 has been troublesome with freezing issues and no automatic use of the dual microsd.
Also overheating is an issue with Li-ion battery based cameras.
I'm awaiting the capacitor type powered units prices to come down a bit.

Hi, this site might be of use, looks like with everything there is a compromise. I'm still looking for small factor unit with high resolution.

I've had success with Ojocam Pro at ojocamcom. The unit is small and tucks near the mirror. It has nice resolution even at night and is easy to setup. Most of the other units are too big and interfere with the visor.

Been looking into dash cams... can't decide on the blackvue dr650gw 1ch or 2ch, only thing stopping me getting the 2 channel is installing the coax via the factory looms...
That been said, has anyone installed a 2 channel dash cam on their GLC or estate?

My blackvue dr650gw 1channel arrived, initial impressions it is chunky. Given how large the rear view mirror console is, it does come into field of vision when mounted. (Havent mounted yet as i may want to move the toll tag first).
I have routed the power cable to the rear trunk (surprisingly eas) and connected via power magic pro. If anyone requests will post pics once completed.

Thanks, yes would be interested in photos. Size I agree is an issue given all the real estate taken up on the top of the windscreen.

Pics of install...
apologies for the reflection... any higher the image would have been too skewed... Any lower, it's gets in the way of driver vision...
Power cable running along to the bottom of the trunk...
excuse my wiring.... going to get some fuse taps tomorrow to clean this up, yep victim of OCD!
This is what I've resorted to attaching the ground.... bit difficult as there isn't bolts to body near the fuse box. A

I think i chose the trunk due to working space, as the fuse taps are quite tall, also getting the cables into that fuse box area was bit more tricky than the trunk. Good luck with your install!

Would be nice if Mercedes could add the option of using the existing two cameras in the windscreen as a dash cam recorder. Would even be able to do it in 3D! Maybe even the 4 cameras included in the surround park assist could be used. How hard would it be to save to a SD cards. Would be a fantastic feature for vehicle security whilst parked.
Maybe the next Generation

Thanks for sharing your install pics! btw, could you let me know which fuse # slot was used for the ACC wire (red) and Constant wire (yellow). From the pic it looks like fuse slot #441 and #446 (function: cigar lighter, front) but what's the function for #441? Close up of the pics would be greatly appreciated. Trying to figure out the Ampere fuse rating and also, if necessary use add a fuse.
Thank you very much.
Thank you very much.
The ACC - i've used the front Cig lighter. For connection I used fuse taps https://www.jaycar.com.au/double-min...e-tap/p/SF5125 - may not be the mini, but you get the idea.
I'll take a closer photo when I'm home, but I hope this gets you going.
Cheers

awesome and I appreciate your help!
I hope to get the install going well on 2-channel setup, i'll report back if anything. I've noticed my fuse box located in the trunk, mostly if not all, the fuses. after the ampere rating has letter N. For example, 5N, 10N, 15N and so on..
Normally, the fuses amp should just have the rating 5, 10, 15 and so on.. never seen before where a letter N was included until now.

played around and used fuse slot 461 and 414, each were rated 5N amps. had already bought fuse tap, using the fuse 5N amp + 3 amp installed inside the fuse box from the trunk. before i begin to mount the front and rear dashcam, I tested it out and seemed to be good connections. i'll post pics soon.

for grounding, I saw an empty screw hole that was threaded and used size #8-32 x 3/8 in., flat head Phillips.

for a good budget camera - I usually get the G1W (for both my parents and my cousin https://www.amazon.com/Black-Box-G1W...3&keywords=g1w
In my car I have a Panorama II. In 2014 it was $200 (or so) and it had the best night performance. Since that time, I think there are better night performance cameras

This thread came at an opportune time as I'm researching dash cams myself. A somewhat difficult task as my knowledge of the subject is nil.
So far the camera I'm leaning toward is the Thinkware F770. Pricy but has everything one would want in a dash cam...I think.
