Comparing GLC interior electronics vs. BMW

Well -

Been driving the GLC for a couple days. Its fairly loaded (surround view camera / HUD / distronic / parktronic ). Couple observations vs. BMW (note i drive a 2012 550ix, and a 2014 GL350):

1) BMW's steering wheel controls allow you to surf the radio & your phone list without changing menu's at either the instrument gauges or the COMAND , and the info shows up on the HUD - adv BMW

2) I think the BMW wider screen is better configured to see 2 things at the same time (e.g. nav / radio) - adv BMW

3) BMW has presets that can be setup (they have 8 of them) like the single MB favorite button - except with more options. For example, we bought this truck for my dad, i wanted to setup a button which, with a single press, would automatically take him home via the NAV. BMW can do it, Benz can't. The short cuts on BMW can also be set to basically anything on the i-drive, can't quite do that yet w/ the Benz - only for certain menu/functions.

4) surround view camera - adv MB, benz's camera system is much nicer showing both top/front or rear views...of course i have the top view on my 2012 BMW so i'm thinking they will be improving theirs soon

5) Distronic+ - the ability for the car to follow the car in front (and change langes/etc.) is neat - still need to see if its something my dad will ever use, but for this adv MB

6) overall interior look - MB wins a close one here, we ordered him the silk beige w black carpet - looks so rich

Just some observations for anyone cross shopping the BMW vs. the Benz!

BMW's interiors are very utilitarian to me. Not sporty, not luxury. On top of that, their designs hardly change model to model, year to year. It gets old quick.

its the biggest reason that turned me away from the X3 in favor of the GLC the bmw's artificial leather fees too rough and dry compared to the more natural feeling of the Mercedes artico leather.

While the W205/GLC has a beautiful interior, the W204 interior felt a little better then a Camry inside, the updated iDrive system in 2011+ 3 series models was significant better then the W204 as-well.
