I believe its a issue with the mounting of the strut with the body... there has been a few posts in the forum where similar symptoms can be found. Good luck

Haven't noticed it with my GLC....have however experienced it with my last car, VW Touareg, in dry weather. I used a silicone rubber lubricant on the rubber joints in the suspension which helped.

I have this problem. Dealership put on grease on the boot of the strut mount in the body. After a few hours same noise came back. Car is in the dealership for a week now and they told me engineers are going to take a look at it to figure out what is wrong.

Have your dealer research TSB for front left/driver strut noise.... it is not endemic, but has happened - TSB gives service protocoal required leading to strut replacement..

On both rear wheel hubs on the inner side there are small metal rubber bushings on each side, when they brake car could wander sideways and clunk.
I had one of those fail on my car it felt weird when I drove it.
Needs a special extraction tool to remove bushings
