He just corrected himself and sent me these numbers.

$46,000 Selling price

36 Month lease
12k miles
$1,178.39 Total Due at Signing

$651.44 / month Inc tax

$26,937 Res
0.00159 MF

* Must go on auto pay for this rate

Here's the breakdown of inception fees:

$651.44 = First Month Payment
$519.75 = DMV
$7.20 = Tax

$1,178.39 Total Total (min drive off)

$651.44 = First Month Payment
$519.75 = DMV
$7.20 = Tax

Ok Based on your information
1) Net Cap Cost = $46,000 Selling price + 9% of ( Cap Cost - Residual Value ie your Lease portion of Usage Sales tax ) as Lease Sales tax +
$519.75 DMV + $ 7.20 Tax + $795 Lease acquisition fee (implied Lease charge) * Notice first payment is not included.
= 46,000 + 1,716 + 520 + 7 + 795
= $49,038

2) Residual Value @3/12 is $26,937 ( which is 26,937 / MSRP 50,825 = 0.53 ie 53% considered)

3) Term = 36 Months

4) MF aka Money Factor is 0.00159 ( which is 0.00159 * 2400 = 3.816% APR rate for you )

So let's calculate your Monthly Payment = Monthly Depreciation Amount + Finance Charge Amount

a) Monthly Depreciation Amount = ( ( Net Cap Cost - Res Value ) / Term ) = ( ( 49,038 - 26,937 ) / 36 ) = 614

b) Monthly Finance Charge amount = ( ( Net Cap Cost + Res Value ) * MF ) = ( ( 49,038 + 26,937 ) * 0.00159 ) = 120

Hence total payment = 614 + 120 = $734 in "Brand New Car Lease" keeping same terms. Quite frankly this good Lease term

But You got "Dealer Used 6K driven car" .. which has some depreciated "Price" due to both Test drive Usage + 6K Miles + less warranty period.

He is giving you 734 - 651 = 83 per month for 36 months = 2,988 "subsidy" (which is embeded in that 46,000 price).

English translation ... same configuration "New Car" .. he is selling you at 46,000 + 2,988 = 49,000 price (let's ignore Delta 3K Finance charge)
This is 49,000 / 50,825 = 3.6% discount MSRP.

In your decision making

1) Do you think .. you can get new config car at less than 3.6% of MSRP ( odds are high that you will ). I think 6%-9% based on supply .. demand

2) Typically 3/12 has Residual rate as 0.57 for new lease (3/10 has 0.60). The suggested from Dealer is 0.53 .. 0.04 of 50K is $2,000. That's the value he is recovering from you in 36 months monthly Lease payment. That's because at lease end it's not 36K miles but (6 + 36) = 42K miles.

If you want to go ahead ... ask for 7% (or realistic CA local market) of new Car MSRP discount + $3000-$4000 Usage discount (average $3500 ). that would be $7,000 app.

Hence ask him Selling price as $43,500 Keeping everything "exactly the same". This should reduce your payment by $69 per month as $582 per month for that car.

If you decide to go for the car. Use the same lease calculation for your new GLC (without usage discount number).

Hope this helpful for your decision making

Holy **** SuperZoom thank you for the free education.

A higher volume dealer just quoted me $608 monthly for a selenite grey with the same configuration: P3, heated seats, panorama, burmester, 19" wheels.

I've actually been asking them for $587 monthly from the start but they were unwilling to play at that price.

I'm far from a leasing expert. That said, I followed the instructions on this page to create a spreadsheet and run the numbers automatically. As you can see, I didn't get quite the same monthly payment that SuperZoom did:

The biggest difference I see is that SuperZoom included a $795 Lease acquisition fee which I don't think you were quoted so I'm not sure why he included it? Otherwise the numbers would probably be the same. Another (minor) difference is that I calculated taxes off the monthly payment. (Like the Edmunds.com article does.)

IMO, a 9.6% discount off MSRP is pretty good. But the residual value (RV) seems too low to me. If I were you, I'd check out the GLC leasing forums on Edmunds.com to get up to date RV and MF numbers. (I provided the link in another thread recently.)

Since this is supposed to be bottom line "Price Paid" Thread for others benefit .. don't want to digress from that theme and make it exotic lease calculation discussion. But here is quick perspective

1) The calculations are made to keep exact same "Apple to Apple" comparison of used 6K car vs new car to "Rationalize IF it's good deal or NOT or AT WHAT Pricing range point it could be". It's always a question of Frontend price / cost VS Backend price / cost consideration. New Car Lease have that 795. So all calculations are made with 0 Down (even $520 DMV is included in Net Cap.

2) The Sales Tax is only applicable for Depreciation Value. Hence always calculated and included in Net Cap. If followed per Edmunds rule .. than you are paying "Sales Tax" on Finance Charge (Loan Interest ) also ... "B7 * B15" which is WRONG. We don't pay taxes on "Loan Interest" by Law

@KKD79 - Anything close to that 582 ... say till under 600 (like 590 / 595 / 599 ) with 0 Down is "good enough (99 / 1 Rule)" .. you have some other factors (Timeline / Availability / Dealer Relationship) etc. consideration to pull the trigger. * If "some amount down" ... adjust the calculations accordingly to make decision.

Someone who cares about keeping threads on topic! You're a rare breed! Fair enough - I'll keep my response short.

I find it hard to believe a site like Edmunds.com would get that wrong. (Paying sales tax on interest.) I agree, it's odd...perhaps it's a law that varies by state? (Edmunds uses CA in their example.) Or are you're saying it's against federal law to apply tax to loan interest?

I'll stop commenting on this now.

It seems like I only got a fair deal, and I had to work at it and travel. I got a quote for $1.1K off in my hometown and finally am driving 3 hours to Chicago to get one at a bigger discount. I went through the Costco purchase program so I do get 50% off (up to $200) on a few accessories I want.

2017 GLC 300 4Matic GLC300W4 $41,150
040 Black / 115 Silk Beige MB-Tex / H07 Dark Brown Linden Wood Trim
P01 P01 Premium Package: $1,250
00A Illuminated Star $550
068 Wheel Locking Bolts $140
070 Chrome Door Handle Inserts $100
413 Tilt/Sliding Panorama Roof $1,480
443 Heated Steering Wheel $250
873 Heated Front Seats $580
SUBTOTAL $45,500
DESTINATION & DELIVERY $925
TOTAL $46,425
Costco Sale price $43,996.00

This is a 5.3% discount. I was getting 2% locally, firm. Are the wheel locks a dealer option? I don't think they can force them on me so I will push back if they are. Are any of the other options dealer installed? I'm not going to lie, I want the illuminated star. I just don't think I can do any better but if someone has bought in Chicago and has gotten a better price, LMK. Also, inventory of the Package 1 models seems to be low. The few dealers I've tried that had them online have said they've sold out and only have Package 2 with way more options than I can afford. I have put down a deposit but can still back out, although I guess they can too. Let me know if this is reasonable. I think I'm going to tell them I want all-season mats for sure.

Wheel Locks are being added at the Factory now - $140. I special ordered and had them replaced with the Heated Steering Wheel for $250. So net $110 increase.

I was surprised they were Factory Wheel Locks since that is a normal accessory dealers add for additional profit. 5% is not bad in the high demand market, but in DC 7-8% is readily available.

And thanks to this board, I was able to fill out the United Premier rebate form as I had not signed yet to get another $500 off. Yay! That makes me feel much better.

I did European Delivery and got the standard 7% ED discount, the free / waived shipping and transportation plus my dealer took an extra $750 off the ED price, though I've heard of some getting more and many not getting anything. So this works out to an almost 10% discount. In the Midwest, most dealers are taking $1-2K off, so I'm happy.

I was offered 5% off MSRP on an order with some diligent follow-up via email. I cast a wide net, and a couple of dealers blew me off entirely, saying they sell at MSRP with little or no discount. I got almost 7% off my order with some persistence. Dealers all say this is an order-and-wait car for most configurations, their best seller, and that they could sell more from inventory if they had them.

Hi All, first post on this forum and new to MB world.. Thanks for very informative msgs.
I am in SF Bay area (NorCAL) and planning to buy 2017/GLC300 with P-02 option in next couple of weeks. Would appreciate if you can recommend a MB dealer in the bay area for the best price. I did contact few bay area dealers about 6 months back and was offered max 2 to 3% discount on MSRP. I had to postpone the purchase due other reasons..
What kind of discounts are being offered now? Are there any other MB discounts?
Thanks in advance.
