BBC Top Gear - GLC v F-Pace v Macan
Did anyone watch BBC Top Gear last night? I've just heard the they did a comparison of the GLC, F-Pace & Macan. I missed it so will be watching the re-run tonight on BBC2!

To describe it as 'shallow' would be an understatement - they might as well have compared 3 tea trays, for the amount of information given out. I know this show is now just silly entertainment rather than anything to do with motoring but the balance between showcasing 'celebs' and doing anything vaguely interesting with a vehicle has tipped way too far. As for what Eddie Jordan did to that poor GLC... well you'll see. I'll struggle to find the will to tune in again for the next one if there is anything more absorbing on another channel.

OK, I expected the worst after your comments! Managed to watch it on iplayer just now and I'd agree that the tests were not all that impressive:
1) road race around a few roundabouts - GLC came last (2.1L engine compared to the other 3L engines)
2) try not to spill your drink whilst offroading - GLC won (but cheated)
3) race to the top of the mountain - customs in the middle so void test
There was absolutely no mention of the main reason the GLC wins in comparisons, the inside cabin. Zip, nada, nothing.
So, although a fun idea and even funnier that Eddie Jordan forgot to put the car into off road mode so stripped the fuel tank, it was a pretty pointless comparison.
Continuity was an issue as well. Why was the GLC running on different wheels? They kept changing. Check out the pic below - back and front different - curious!

Yep strange review on Top Gear, no real comparison between the three and no detailed knowledge of the cars - pointless!!!!!
Only thing I got from it was the size of the GLC being comparable with the other two cars.
I agree the show has gone down hill big time since the three great guys have left. I shall not be busting a gut to watch Top Gear again.

Top Gear did not seem fair with the comparisons. The main star is no longer on Top Gear I heard? I don't get BBC any longer, they make me pay extra for it. It is not an apple for apple comparison. The new Jag SUV along with the Porsche Macan are waaaay more expensive at starting price.
They should have done a price comparison. What I paid for my GLC blows away the Jag and Porsche. To me, that is the ultimate test....the value for your money.
