Lighting package option on the GLC?

Hi all,

My mom is slowly losing her ability to see well at night, so I have been considering the GLC with the lighting package to help her see better at night. However, I also want to gauge how well the GLC's headlights perform against other cars as well. I was wondering if the headlights on the GLC (with lighting package) are better than those on other competitors in terms of the distance illuminated. Can anyone share any personal experience or insight on this? It would be very much appreciated!

Hi, I can attest to the intelligent LED headlights on the GLC.
In my opinion, best around. We have Late model Bi Xeon type lights on our other cars, thought they were good, but these walk all over them. Nice bright, white light, not yellow, that is easy on the eyes. Go online and look at the videos showing how the smart lights work. They go around the car in front to illuminate the side road, on auto high beam they " linger longer" focusing lights on road signs and street signs, very impressive.
Theses lights IMO are world best practice and best on the market. Tried Lexus LED IN NX series, not a patch on MB tech.

Thanks so much for your reply! I was concerned the other day when I noticed that the Mercedes C-class scored a "poor" rating for headlights in the IIHS tests, but your response has reassured me that the GLC would likely perform better, especially seeing as the Toyota group, including Lexus, has relatively better lights than other tested cars. This definitely helps since luxury SUVs have not yet been tested.

The lighting package is one of our favorite feature!!! It has an auto-high beam that turns when you turn...it's awesome!!!!

Available as a stand alone option on the new DOG for $850.
In the DOG(6/30) it says "limited availability", but I got it put on my order
only to be held up by a lack of burl wood for my interior trim.

I meant to say the lighting in premium 3 (2017) or $1500 lighting package (2016) vs the $850 lighting option in 2017

BMW 5 Series and BMW X3
When I was shopping dealer inventory for GLC's with the Lighting Package, they were very hard to find. Most of the cars in inventory didn't have the option and just a very few were available this way. That might change as sales slow a bit and inventories increase.

The $1500 lighting/sound package was an option I asked for in June, then
the 6/30 DOG came out and the package was eliminated and the LED lights
are now a stand alone option. The premium sound is now part of some
premium package that adds too much to the cost of the car for what you get, in my opinion.

The Burmester sound was part of a package in a previous DOG. In the most recent version (6/30/16), however, it reverted back to a standalone option and is not part of one of the three premium packages.

Right you are, I just made an assumption about it being included in another
package.
Funny how what was once a $1500 pkage is now costing $1700 for both;
yeah, real funny.

I found the answer in DOG itself!

No automatic cornering light And no bend illumination in $850

Yep. Cheaper option is LED "static". No cornering, auto high beam, wrap around etc.

More expensive is LED "intelligent" ...worth the extra

I agree its worth the extra at $1500 but at $7000+ in Premium 3 that's pretty steep !

It's only money, lol
We just committed to extras amounting to $13k plus, I think. Included tow bar, etc.
Virtually "hamburger with the lot", minus smelly fresh air feature !
