I am attempting to keep the GLC charged by using a battery tender. She is driven rarely and I fear the battery will not keep a charge. The problem is she does not want to accept a charge even from the battery tender and I suspect the ground connection is the problem. The ground connection is bolted to painted metal and aluminum, neither of which is a good conduit.

MBWorld Fanatic!
If you have Keyless Go - if you remote the Button - your GLE should keep a "charge" cleanly 8 weeks or more.
You are correct - the system won't accept a charge...
Good luck !

if the system wont accept a charge then why does MB offer a trickle charger for the 2016 GLC 300?

That is where I connected the ground from the trickle charger to no avail. It constantly showed charging. When I would disconnect the ground wire the charger showed charged. I don't think this is a great grounding source as the metal is painted and attached to aluminum. But, are we even supposed to try and use a trickle charger on the 2016 GLC 300?

We recently had some bodywork done on my wife's GLC. It was in the shop for a week and a half, and because they replace the shell of the front passenger door, they probably had the door removed for at least a couple of days. To make a long story short, they probably didn't disconnect the battery while doing the work and when we got the car back, the dash had a battery warning "start engine see operator's manual". After searching the web for a bit I decided to plug my 1.5Amp Schumacher Battery Companion to the jump start locations (the positive terminal and brass post) overnight (about 12 hours or so). The next day the charger said that the battery was "Charged" and the warning went away, so connecting a charger to where the manual says to jump start the car works.
