Dupont Interior/Exterior Package?

Hi:

Did anyone opt for this on their new car?

I didn't think twice about turning it down at delivery, but in retrospect, the interior is SO NICE and I'm usually so NOT NICE to car interiors...Food, drink, snow, salt, big dog, etc.

It was offered by my dealer for $700. Seems like they treat entire interior and exterior with DuPont products and then warranty against stains for 7 years (I'm sure with a long list of disclaimers).

This is my first leather interior so I don't know if I'm being rightly cautious or new-car paranoid!

A gaggle of MB's
There is the Mercedes/DuPont package - and also most dealers also offer PermaPlate package as well (a different treatment).

The fact is the exterior/interior packages are a combination of applied-chemicl/set and "package protection" like insurance.

No one who has bought a MB from my guys - has had any complaint whatsoever about the chemical/applied product - and down the road I have seen both the MB/DuPont or Permaplate package cover stain/damage up to and including replacement seat leather/MBTex.

I "think" off the top of my head MB/DuPont will cover "food-type" stains - but doesn't specifically cover jean transfer - PermaPlate has broader type-of-stain coverage and/or also will cover punctured repair.

Ultimately - putting the chemical-application aside - it's the added protection + "insured/coverage" that becomes important.

Keep the beat ! -

It sounds like just some extra money for the dealership. I have a 2005 C class with over 310XXX miles and my MB Tex seats are in really good shape. My 2003 G Class has leather with 1/3 of the miles and still looks great. None of my cars have had any treatments.

Just my experience.

Yeah but do you eat/drink (coffee, soda, etc.) in your car or have a no drink/food policy in your car. That's what really matters when you say your "seats are in really good shape."
