How to Engage Blind Spot Assist when using trailer hitch lights
I bought a bumper guard that fits in my 1.25" hitch receiver and it has LED brake lights built into it. It actually blinks when you press the brake or put on your turn signals as well. Problem is the GLC gives a notification that Blind Spot Assist get's disengaged when it is plugged in.
Is there a way to keep it engaged and not to get the alert to check the brake/signals on the trailer every time I start? Going to tape the adapter to the bumper guard if not. It's great to have for city driving/parking.

In a quick answer - if you are using the trailer electrical connector - then the GLC will sense those lights as trailer lights - and yes, it will knock out Blind Spot assist.
You would have to custom wire - and tap in with clip connections to brake/turn-signals - and frankly in my mind - not worth messing with that.

Thank You Fabbrisd1, that's what I figured. I was going to just cut it off but taped it off instead just in case they find a way to do this.

Bumper Guard, what is it good for??
I suppose you want to prevent damage to the bumper if a minor collusion happens, e.g. in a parking lot?
But what happens if they hit your bumper guard? The risk is MAJOR damage to the construction of the trailer hitch! In other words, damage costing > $1000 instead of minor damage to the bumper (the bumper is designed to limit damage in minor collisions!)
