'Orrible Smell
My 250D has now done 380 miles, up to yesterday trouble free, including a 160 round trip on Sunday. Yesterday evening I drove 20 miles to Oxford, no problem, and 20 back at the end of the evening. When I got home there was a very strong acrid smell coming from the front that hung like a pollution cloud that was detectable 40 metres away and didn't disperse for half an hour. You could see the fumes caught in the headlights coming out of the grille. There was a pinging sound once every 6 seconds from underneath, like a radiator cooling down.
I checked this morning and all fluid levels were OK and a journey to Oxford and back couldn't replicate the smell. Any ideas?

Blimey, do you think so, after less than 400 miles? When I mentioned it to the dealer he didn't offer any explanation so perhaps DPF unlikely. But it's something to look out for.
Thanks
