SDcard Navigation worth?

Hi,

My car, 2017 GLC300 has pre-wired navigation slot.
So only if I buy Garmin navigation SDcard, I can use MB navigation system.
Official price is about $600, and I may be able to buy in open market such as Amazon or Ebay $3~400.

Do you think it is worth to purchase this SDcard navigation, compared to Google map in my smart phone?

I think the biggest advantage is that I can see big screen for navigation. Also I can use voice command to search.

However, I have been satisfied with Google map for navigation so far. It provide real-time traffic information and more easy to type address or POI.
Moreover, Google map can always download up-to-date map information.

What is your opinion? Is it good decision to buy MB navigation SD card for $3~600 price?

A gaggle of MB's
My "opinion" is this - when the SD card is inserted into the vehicle - that nav card "bonds" with that MB for one-time use - unlike the Becker Map Pilot which can be switched from vehicile-to-vehicle - the nav card can't.

There is a eBay seller offering "new" SD card for $350 - I have not contacted them to ask what version/yr....

It's your money - on the MB side Garmin sets the price of the new Nav card for each model - Mercedes parts dept gets 10% "profit"...

Keep the beat !

Ashwats, Which region are you from and what options were fitted to your GLC?

The Australian delivered GLC's come standard with the Garmin Navigation and Voice command only works with the command option using a different navigation system.

Does this work with no touchpad

Hi

I have a US 2017 GLC300 prewired for garmin but with NO touchpad , will the SD card work ?

The mercedes configurator seems to indicate that it will but I wanted to know if anyone here has tried it for a car without the touchpad controller

Thanks

The touchpad is probably the most useless piece of kit ever. Looks good and good to rest your hand on.

Every function is available through other controls so SD should work fine without it.

So if you have COMAND then don't you already have MB navigation? Is the SD card option for those who would rather use Garmin navigation?

No. It does nothing when you insert it into the SD slot if you have COMAND. MB is charging $625 for an item you can't use. My salesman told me to sell the Garmin SD on eBay.

What I meant was doesn't the COMAND system come preloaded with it's own MB navigation system (not the GARMIN one)?
